Breaking good habits, and then picking them up again!

So I had my exam yesterday... I was tested in "English language use", in other words: grammar. I've always been fairly good in memorizing things, and I had gotten the rules down before going there. I just struggled with applying them properly. My main problem was identifying noun types. Is the noun singular? Plural? Both? Irregular? Collective? Countable? Uncountable? It's confusing. Anyway, that's the reason why I haven't been a good supporter and commented as much as I'd like - I hope you understand! The exam went well, and I believe I only had one mistake. That cost me the A, but also means I should get a B.. so that's good.

Because of the studying, I've had to set aside my usual amount of exercise for this week. That doesn't mean I'm not going, I just don't have time to spend 2+ hours at the gym. I do, however, squeeze in 45 minutes here and there, plus some walks. Such as this one:

Walking in the snow? Not a problem! What was a problem, though, was the ice hidden beneath it. ;) Ah well, I got up the mountain and home again without too much effort.

Sorry for the poor pictures, they were taken with my phone. This is from the top. :)

Oh and one other thing.. Monday I went out to eat with my friend Andreas.. Guess what we had for dinner? Yeah baby! It was delicious! And don't worry, it was tracked and exercised for!

Now I need to pick myself up from the lack of exercise and easy food solutions. It's always after I break my habits I find it hard to keep trucking... but, I really want to see a loss on Monday, after my very irregular results lately. I'll hit the gym today and tomorrow, and have my fingers crossed!

  1. Life gets in the way sometimes. Just pick it back up and continue your healthy ways. The big mistake people make is thinking, "Well, since I can't be perfect, I might as well be as bad as I can be." You didn't do that so even though weight loss might slow a bit you didn't self-sabotage. Good job. Take care.

  4. Whew! Good job on the exam. I'm sure you're glad to have it behind you.

What's wonderful about eating healthy most of the time is how it elevates simple splurges--like a burger with fries--to a whole new level. Plus, for me, it make it so much easier to stick to the healthier side if I know that I can indulge a little at some point in the future.

  5. Congrats on doing well on your test. And the burger does look yummy too :)

Did I kill the English language enough for you in those few sentences? I think here in the states it is our goal to make up our own language, no matter what we have been thought.

  6. I wouldn't let any confusion about the English language stop you from commenting, Maren - you actually write better than a lot of people!

  7. I never thought about your English! Actually, I have been quite impressed and just assumed it was a second language that you knew well.

  9. Well, living in the states, you pick up on all versions of the English language. I wouldn't worry. Most will think it's new slang for something. Fo Sho! lol....

  10. I'd be in heaven if I got a "B" on ANYTHING.

Is this the paper we talked about last week?!? I know that one was fantastic!

  11. I bet most English-born speaking people couldn't pass that test because we don't learn English that way any more. My boys don't really learn grammar in school anymore past grade school and the basics, which is a shame! Anyway - learning a second language is never easy - so good for you!

Get right back on track! You can do it.

  12. i commend ANYONE who learns a second (or more) language!
and i totally agree with enz -- i bet most english speaking folks would fail your grammar exam!

you will kick into gear this week -- you are too strong not to!

    happy weekend!

  14. Okay, so not the best choice, but you know it, and you move on. Quick "snap backs" --recovery--are part of the key. On you go.

I will thank you for those landscape pics. How refreshing, that view. It's so cool to "travel" in blogland. Do post mroe! And happy snowwalking!

  15. A treat every now and then (especially one tracked and worked off!) is OK - if we don't allow ourselves to indulge, too often we binge!

    Nice job on the exam!

  20. That dinner looks good, but I know I can't have it. :( Actually, I could go out and order it, but I think my insides would hate me for it. You will get to a point where heavy meals will make you sick for days. I guess enjoy it while you can? We all have our vice meals, burgers used to be mine - BIG TIME. I never met a burger I didn't like (except maybe a turkey burger, yeah I'm that girl). Now, when I crave them - I go buy frozen veggie burgers with the 'grill' taste in them, they are good on a sandwich thin with some veggies and mustard. Your taste buds will evolve as you continue to become stronger and healthier. It's just part of the process and... the beat goes on. I love 'seeing' your walks, great pics.
