Hiking Mt. Fløien!

It was so sunny and warm here today I decided to hike one of the four mountains I have to climb for the 4 mountain trip this summer: Mt. Fløien. It's not more than 400m, but it was exhausting. It's clear that I haven't spent enough time building up my steep climbing stamina. I was absolutely shot!

The hike was 7km long, and I spent about 1.5h on it. 57 minutes to the top. Not great, but I'll improve that time. It felt like my lungs were burning, it was really bad. BUT, I made it!

The route!

Barely started!!

Tell me this isn't steep!!

Wonderful sunny day!

Walk towards the light!

I've knitted something for me to sit on. ;)

View of downtown Bergen from the top of Mt. Fløien!

More view. :-) Note the small pond we have down there!
Now you might think that this was it for today? And it should have been, it nearly killed me (I might be exaggerating ..) .. when I came home I grabbed my husband and set off to the Arboretum, to do another 4k - making the grand total for today 11k!!

This is peace. ♥

Happy face!

This was supposed to be of the both of us.......
I spent 191 minutes hiking today, and burned 1700 calories! That is soooo crazy! Best part is, although it was hard and I nearly died - it was so much fun!! I know what this spring and summer will consist of, and I can't wait!

Now I know that sooo many of you enjoy this scenery too, and I have to say that if you are ever in my corner of the world, let me know and I'll take you to see these places live! There is a lot of tourists in Bergen, but they normally stay in the city center - there is so much more to see! If you know anyone going here, hook us up! I'd love to share my country with anyone that wants to see! ♥

Hiking hugs from me!

  1. What a beautiful place! I like that the trail is well established, though steep. It's just a great challenge! Do it enough and it'll get easier! :) Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic photos. I live by mountains, but they don't look like that! :)

  3. You've inspired me! I found a trail for somewhere 10 miles from my house with ruins and nice scenery, so I'm gonna try it next week! Scotland looks really similar to your pics, when you get to the countryside! x

  12. That picture of you looks great! You are transforming! I don't know if I ever mentioned that my hubby and I were in Bergen about 10 years ago. I visited Norway many years ago and always wanted to go back with my hubs. Well, we did and we did that hike that you wrote about in this post. It was beautiful and a incredible work out for me. Good for you doing it. What a great hike for your training!

  13. I guess the view more than made up for the climbing... you would definitely love to see the "Seven Mountains" up close! It's supposed to be the place where the original "Snowwhite" lived, and it is really a fairytale kind of wood and mountains. We can see it from the dining room window. ^^

  15. You better believe I'll take you up on that one of these days. Norway is at the top of my bucket list. Not only do I want to hike there, but I was a piano major in college and Edward Grieg has always been my favorite composer. I did a couple of his things on my senior recital. That view looking out over Bergen is mesmerizing.
