In my last post I asked you about how to keep refilling the "cup of motivation", and most comments were about exercise. I guess I should have been clearer in that regard, because honestly - exercising isn't an issue for me anymore. Sure, some days are super hard! But most of the time I just do it, and rather enjoy it. I've been doing at least 3x a week since October 6th 2011, and most of the time more. The only exceptions are weeks where I have been sick. Isn't that pretty amazing?? I think it is! I'm getting stronger, and my oldest brother proved it when I was home during Christmas. He was going to check out my bicep/triceps because I have always been rather soft in that area... and he's loved pointing out that fact to me. This time, however, I caught him being
genuinely shocked for about 5-6seconds before the boy in him made him crack new jokes.. but let me tell you, those 5 seconds of shock...... golden! And with this added inspiration comes killer workouts! Today I had a marathon workout, because I really wanted to push myself HARD.
I did intervals for 35 minutes, strength/cardio with kettlebells for 1h 15min and finished off the remainder of my 2h 35min on the treadmill again. 1533 calories in the box, and I am so proud of myself for pushing through at the end. My legs were so sore, but I was determined to keep going until the skiers crossed the finish line (I was watching Tour de Ski). And I DID!

I had pizza with good friends last night, but made good choices earlier in the day with small and lean meals, and I didn't have desert. I am on a roll! ;) We also opted for an italian style pizza, with a thin crust. It's crazy how many calories you save on a thin crust vs thick crust - AND I like it better! As I am tracking everything I exaggerated it in my log too, so I'm "safe". It feels amazing to be treating my body good again. :D
2013 is off to a killer start!
Wow, that's an awesome calorie burn! We have pizza every Thursday night and I plan accordingly so I can enjoy it without guilt.
ReplyDeleteI turn red too when I burn calories :).
I exaggerate in my log too just to be safe. You're doing GREAT!

ReplyDeleteAwesome! I too have no issue being motivated to work out. For me, there is more benefit than fitness....the stress relief is high on the list! I LOVE LOVE LOVE kettlebell workouts! Way to go starting 2013 off so well!
